What are the reasons for the belt conveyor not rotating?

The following are common reasons and solutions for belt production lines not turning, combined with fault cases and technical analysis:

1、 Power transmission failure

1. Belt slippage

Reason: Insufficient tension (such as hydraulic tensioning device failure), wear on the surface of the driving drum (rubber layer thickness<5mm), or decreased friction coefficient due to water/oil contamination.

Solution: Adjust the tension to the design value ± 5%, spray polyurethane anti slip layer or install a roller cleaning scraper.

2. Transmission system interruption

Damage to the gearbox gears, insufficient filling of the hydraulic coupling, or misalignment of the coupling (radial error>0.05mm) can result in the inability to transmit power.

The gear backlash needs to be checked (>0.2mm needs to be replaced) and calibrated using a laser alignment instrument.

2、 Mechanical jamming problem

1. Foreign object jamming

Metal fragments, material accumulation, or belt deviation and jamming into the frame can cause the belt to stagnate.

Emergency handling: Clean up foreign objects and install metal detectors.

2. Bearing/idler failure

Bearing damage (noise>85dB) or failure of roller seal can cause a significant increase in rotational resistance due to ash ingress.

Replace bearings with IP67 protection level (such as SKF Explorer series).

3、 Electrical and control faults

1. Motor overload: If the load exceeds the design value by 120% or the voltage is unstable (fluctuation>± 10%), the protection shutdown will be triggered.

2. Protection switch failure: Contact adhesion or circuit disconnection requires checking the PLC logic and sensor status.

4、 Other reasons

1. Belt aging/breakage: Long term overload or poor joint quality require replacement of high-strength alloy steel belts.

2. Lubrication system malfunction: Blockage in the oil circuit or failure of the oil pump can cause dry friction in the bearings.

Suggest prioritizing the investigation of tension, foreign object jamming, and transmission components before gradually checking the electrical system.
